Legacy planning, within reach of every family.
Every family deserves the peace of having their affairs in order, no matter their income, their language, or where they came from. The Loving Legacy – Fan and Dai Foundation provides free education and real access to legacy and end-of-life planning, so protecting the people you love is never out of reach. easy.
Our Mission
Loving Legacy – the Fan and Dai Foundation helps families of every background put their affairs in order and protect what matters most, through education and access to legacy and end-of-life planning, with particular care for seniors, immigrant families, and households who would otherwise go without.
We believe planning is an act of love. A will, an advance directive, a clear plan for the people in your care, these are gifts you leave behind, and they should belong to everyone, not only those who can afford a lawyer.
Why Legacy Planning
Can't Wait
Far too many families have no will, no advance directive, and no plan for who will care for their children or make decisions if they cannot. When that planning is missing, the people left behind often face confusion, unnecessary costs, and family conflict during some of life's most difficult moments.
The barriers are real. Legal help can be expensive, the process can feel overwhelming, and for families navigating multiple languages, cultures, or countries, planning may seem entirely out of reach. The Loving Legacy – Fan and Dai Foundation exists to remove those barriers through plain-language education, trusted community partnerships, and access to resources that help families take meaningful steps toward protecting their future.
The need is greater than many people realize. According to Caring.com's 2025 Wills and Estate Planning Study, only 24% of Americans have a will, meaning nearly three out of four adults have not completed this fundamental step in protecting their loved ones. Without a plan in place, families may be left to make difficult legal, financial, and healthcare decisions without clear guidance
when it matters most.
That is why the Loving Legacy – Fan and Dai Foundation is committed to making estate and legacy planning more accessible, understandable, and within reach for every family, regardless of income, language, or background.

Programs & What We Do

1
Loving Legacy
Workshop
Free community education on the essentials, wills, advance directives, powers of attorney, and guardianship basics, offered through senior centers, libraries, and faith communities across Greater Philadelphia. These workshops meet families where they already gather and explain, in everyday language, what each document does and why it matters. No cost, no pressure, no sales pitch.
2
Two Languages,
One Legacy
Bilingual English and Mandarin Chinese education and materials for immigrant families planning across two systems. Estate and end-of-life planning is hard enough in one language; for families with ties to China and elsewhere, the gap is wider and the stakes are higher. We provide guidance and resources in both languages so no family is shut out by translation alone.
中文遗产规划教育:我们为讲中文的家庭提供英文和中文双语的遗产与临终规划教育,包括遗嘱、预先医疗指示和监护安排等基础知识,帮助跨国家庭跨越语言障碍,安心规划。
3
The Access Bridge
Information alone isn't enough, families also need documents that are actually completed. Through partnerships with legal aid organizations and a panel of volunteer attorneys, the Access Bridge connects qualifying families to real, no-cost or low-cost help finishing their plans. We don't replace lawyers; we open the door to them.

FAQS
Are the workshops really free?
Yes. Loving Legacy Workshops are offered at no cost, funded by donations and grants. There is no fee and no obligation.
Do you offer help in Chinese?
Yes. Through our Two Languages, One Legacy program, we provide education and materials in both English and Mandarin Chinese for bilingual and immigrant families.
What is an advance directive?
An advance directive is a document that states your wishes for medical care and names someone to make decisions for you if you cannot. Our workshops explain what it covers and why it matters, in plain language.
Do I need a lawyer to make a will?
Not always — but it often helps, especially for families with property, children, or cross-border ties. The Foundation educates you on your options and, through the Access Bridge, can connect qualifying families to legal aid or volunteer attorneys.
Does the Foundation provide legal advice?
No. The Foundation provides general education, not legal advice, and our programs are not a substitute for guidance from your own attorney. We help you understand the landscape and connect you to qualified help.
Where do you serve?
We focus on Greater Philadelphia and Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, with workshops hosted through local senior centers, libraries, and faith communities.
